With 4,000 acres of farmland, bush and streams there are many activities that can be enjoyed at Retaruke. Depending on just what appeals often several of these activities can be combined together.
Horse riding –give it a go or a more challenging and scenic trek
Farm tours – see a working sheep and beef farm in action and including the manuka honey story. Interact with and share a farmer’s life.
Get off the beaten track – experience off-road adventure in a SxS
Walking – wander at will or with a guide
Whio (blue duck) conservation – assist with the farm’s predator trapping programme and see NZ’s endemic whio (as on the $10 note) up close and personal
Enjoy a sumptuous outdoor picnic high on a ridge top or beside a bubbling stream
Clay target shooting – for all skill levels with an emphasis on fun and safety
Trout Fishing – Enjoy fly or spin fishing on the nearby Retaruke River, or further afield on the Whakapapa and Manganuioteao Rivers. See Package Offers
Photography – stunning landscapes, special light and moods, wild deer and birds up close and farm activities. Make sure you bring your camera!
Hunting - Experience free range hunting for wild red and fallow deer. A memorable father and kids experience while the rest of the family enjoy other lodge activities.
